In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, EJI is offering free admission to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum on Monday, January 16, 2023. The national holiday on Monday celebrates the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and honors his life-long advocacy for civil rights.
The Memorial and Museum first opened in April 2018 and have received international acclaim. In 2022, EJI opened the new Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration, which dramatically expanded the content presented in the original museum. The new museum also features a world-class art gallery with major works from some of the most celebrated Black artists in the country.
“We’re delighted that the city where Dr. King came to prominence has two new sites that seek to advance his dream. We’re thrilled to open these spaces to residents and visitors for free in honor of his life and legacy,” said EJI Director Bryan Stevenson.
The National Memorial for Peace and Justice will be open on Monday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm (with last entry at 4:30 pm). There is no need for a ticket for the memorial on Monday.
The Legacy Museum will be open on Monday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm (with last entry at 4 pm). No reservations or tickets are required.
