About the Position

EJI is seeking an experienced professional to join our anti-hunger team as a staff assistant, who will serve Alabama families experiencing food insecurity. The ideal candidate will enjoy providing services to families in counties across the state, sometimes working independently and other times as part of a team. The staff assistant will deliver resources to families, provide information, and answer questions about program guidelines; they will also contribute to the operations of our mobile grocery store. Those duties will include cleaning the store, procuring and stocking inventory, interacting with shoppers, processing transactions, warehouse upkeep, and other tasks as required.

Our anti-hunger staff complete time-sensitive tasks daily, so excellent time management skills are essential, and exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) are critical. The staff assistant will also be responsible for using confidential information appropriately, exercising discretion at all times, and treating program families with respect in every interaction.

Additional requirements:

  • Four-year degree
  • Minimum two years’ relevant experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
