Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities, announced that EJI has earned a perfect overall score of 100 out of 100 and once again rated us a top four-star charity.
Charity Navigator’s rating system examines two areas of performance: Financial Health and Accountability & Transparency. Its ratings reflect how efficiently it believes a charity will use support today, how well it has sustained its programs and services over time, and the charity’s level of commitment to good governance, best practices, and openness with information.
EJI earned a perfect score of 100 out of 100 on both Financial Health and Accountability & Transparency. Of the thousands of charities rated by Charity Navigator, less than 1% receive perfect combined scores.
In March, EJI was also awarded an A+ grade from critically-acclaimed CharityWatch, America’s most independent and assertive charity watchdog.
EJI is a Top-Rated charity on CharityWatch. Groups included on the CharityWatch Top-Rated list generally spend 75% or more of their budgets on programs, spend $25 or less to raise $100 in public support, do not hold excessive assets in reserve, have met CharityWatch’s governance benchmarks, and receive “open-book” status for disclosure of basic financial information and documents to CharityWatch.
CharityWatch’s report shows that EJI spends 92% on programs relative to overhead and spends $1 to raise $100 in contributions. Our support comes primarily from individual donors and donations are tax deductible.
